Breastfeeding Twin Babies

Breastfeeding in Twin Pregnancy

These days IVF pregnancy has become more common and therefore the incidence of twin babies is also increasing. Even in the case of twin babies, exclusive breastfeeding should be the first option for proper growth and development.

Mothers can breastfeed twins either together from both breasts at the same time or feed them one after the other, assigning one breast to each baby. Both methods can be effective depending on the comfort of the mother and babies.

Milk production mainly depends on the suckling stimulus from the baby. When the baby suckles more frequently, the body receives signals to produce more milk.

Therefore, when a mother has twin babies, the increased suckling by both babies naturally stimulates the breasts to produce more milk to meet the nutritional needs of both infants.
