NORMAL AND HIGH RISK PREGNANCY
I) NORMAL PREGNANCY:-
Delivery of a single baby in good condition at term between 37 week to 42 week with birth weight of 2.5 kg to 4 kg with no maternal complication.
II) HIGH RISK PREGNANCY:-
- Elderly primigravida (30 years and more)/Elderly grand multipara.
- Short statured (140 cm and below)
- Anaemia (less than 8g/dl)
- Underweight (<40kg)
- Inter-pregnancy interval of less than 2 years
- Previous obstetric history of still birth, intrauterine death, abortions
- History of previous caesarean or instrumental delivery.
- Treatment of fertility.
- Presence of systemic illness like cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, diabetes, tuberculosis, liver disease, convulsion, asthma, HIV, Respiratory tract infection, etc.
- History of three or more spontaneous consecutive abortions,
- Rhesus negative blood group.
III) HIGH RISK DURING PREGNANCY:-
If any of the following condition appears it has to be labelled as “high risk” and should be in touch with obstetrician regularly.
- Pregnancy induced hypertension
- Malpresentation eg breech ,transverse lie, shoulder presentation, face presentation, etc
- Antepartum haemorrhage
- Anaemia (Hb 8g/dl)
- Multiple pregnancy
- Polyhydramnios and oligohydramnios.
- Prolonged pregnancy (14 days after expected date of delivery)
- Premature rupture of membranes
- Fetal distress
- Early onset of labour
- Cephalopelvic disproportion
